RKSK- Barwani Case Study

The Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotion Trust (HLFPPT) is awarded yet again with RKSK program for a period of 3 years (2019-2022). Its components include Adolescents Health Friendly Clinics at District hospital and community health centers, through its counselors based at the CHC and the DH in the district of Barwani of Madhya Pradesh. They are providing clinical and counseling services for adolescents at the facility with referral mechanism. The counselors are also providing support through outreach services mainly for school going as well as drop out adolescents. Subsequently support is also being provided through supportive supervision to the trained Sathiya (the name given to Peer Educators in Madhya Pradesh) by the trained master trainers in the identified villages of the district.

The case study is of Govind who is very much interested in studies but could not continue due to his hearing inability and due to lack of support from his parents.

This study will show that how the effective counseling made realize Govind’s parents to change their decision from sending him to daily wages work to studies.

In a tribal area of Barwani, Counselor Mr. Priyanshu as per the outreach activities on a visit to village Bhawati under block Sendhwa, on observing an adolescent it was identified that an adolescent male named Govind showed the signs of depression and on discussion with him it was found that he is a school drop out after 7th standard as he failed in all exams.

The reason of this failure is as his parents are forcing him to go for work rather than studies but he softly told the counselor that he has some difficulty in hearing as well which he has already told to his parents but they didn’t give much of the importance to it, but Govind also told that he would like to study further like many others and want to make name for himself rather than working as a laborer. This is where this program’s importance is seen and why this program is so beautifully designed as to reach each and every adolescent. So, seeing his mental status counselor provided a counseling session and made him comfortable and then took him to his house.

On discussing all his issues with his parents that made his mother cry as well as she realized her mistake of not understanding his problem. Counselor provided counseling to his parents as well and advised them to first provide a treatment for his ears then as per his interest make him continue his studies, which they agreed upon and assured to show him in the district hospital.

This is the success of the program which created change in the life of Govind through the counselor. Yes certainly it won’t be done in a day he may require continuous counseling and monitoring as financial issues can someday take over the positive state of mind, so counselor has himself made sure that to make regular visits to his house and check upon his status.

HLFPPT - Best NGO Working for Skill Development

According to CMIE data, the unemployment rate rose from 7.1% in May to 7.8% in June, with rural unemployment rising by 1.4 percentage points to 8%, while urban unemployment fell by 0.9 percentage points to 7.3%, the lowest rate in India in 16 months. Some of the reasons for this include a lack of access to high-quality tertiary education and a growing skills gap. Skills development can aid structural transformation and economic growth by increasing employability and labor productivity and assisting countries in becoming more competitive.  Investment in a high-quality workforce can start a virtuous circle in which relevant and high-quality skills enable productivity growth and foreign direct investment, which leads to more and better jobs for the current workforce and more public and private investment in the education and training system. As a result, both the current and future workforces' employability and productivity improve. There are government approved NGOs that work on ski...
